Established in 1976, the Berest Dance Center offers outstanding training in a non-competitive, nurturing environment. This family-operated studio is directed by the nationally acclaimed Olga Berest and features the internationally renowned Heather Berest, of Paul Taylor Dance Company and Momix fame, as the artistic director.
Berest Dance Center aims to make the joy of dancing accessible for enjoyment and professional training, offering an alternative to dance training in NYC.
Our dance curriculum is designed to take students from their first introduction to movement through a full course of study. Open 7 days a week, programs include a multiple genre schedule of over 70 dance classes. Its curriculum includes ballet, pointe, lyrical, contemporary, improv, jazz, musical theatre, Broadway dance, tap and hip-hop classes. The Center also holds specialty classes for child-adult participation and boys only. Find your program below!

Learn moreI'm writing this note with deep appreciation for the lovely Newsday article written about two exceptional young women who contribute their time to Dance for Joy. My husband and I spend a lot of time talking about humanity and the endless barrage of hateful actions in which our country seems to be mired. And then I read something like this piece and I feel hopeful again. So thank you for creating the opportunity for people to do good, to be good... to let us know that humanity is not lost.
— With tremendous gratitude, Robin Hummel
